997.2 - Alarm/Lock/Key Fob Function Question

Ever since I've had my 997.2 Carrera, when I lock the doors I don't get a beep.... no beep with either locking or unlocking.

I've played with the function stalk and don't see a way to manually make it beep...

But strangely the other day, it did beep when I the button to lock it.... but it was a very very weak horn beep like it was sick.

Is hitting the key fob to lock/unlock the car supposed to have it beep as an indicator?

Many european cars do not beep and I like that for a number of reasons. The beep you heard is a warning beep; perhaps you left the glove compartment or the console lid unlatched. It's all in the manual.

There is a third-party aftermarket add-on to add those beeps and other stuff if you like that.

You can add a RemoteKey from mod4cars - It offers some other handy features as well like one-touch up passenger window. Many other features are now redundant on the 997.2. I like the lock beep (different sound than fault beep) and have added one to my car - fairly easy install.

You'll notice a fault beep as said if you leave something open inside and also I get a beep if I unlock the frunk and start messing around - the doors auto-relock after several seconds and the beep notifies you the frunk is still open - can be startling if you don't expect it.

You only get a beep when you try to lock and there's a fault condition, like the hood being open. Pop your hood and then lock - you'll hear a beep.
