You will wear out the throwback bearing if you hold the clutch down for long periods of time.

chobit is infamous around these parts
It happens on my 997.1 often enough. 9x% of the time, I can apply a tiny bit more force to get it in gear. The going to 2nd gear then to first also works most of the time.

Honestly, I never have problems with my 99 Miata and 06 STi. Both transmissions are smooth as silk.

I know the feeling!

Shifting to neutral sometimes work, but I sometimes have re-engage the clutch and that does it for sure...

Of course they shouldn't be expected to be unbreakable or abused. Fortunately for me, I am not one of the silly jocks who don't know better as no transmission on any car I've owned has been damaged by misuse, including the 915 on my '84 Targa which served me well for many tens of thousands of miles.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease by saying that our Aisin transmissions are excellent ones!
PAG sources parts from many manufacturers. Getrag supplied the 996 tranny. Aisin supplies the 997 tranny because they offer a better product. When the 997 was released in '04 the tranny was acknowledged as being an improvement.

Porsche includes a disclaimer with the SSK saying it may be difficult to shift when cold.
