Carbon fiber mirrors

Is it just me or is this one of the best cosmetic mod for the 997. Nice and subtle, although it makes a great statement.
Seems like not as many people as i thought have this mod, and im beginning to think the reason is because, most, if not all places completely over price this item.
whats your peoples input on this, why is it so expensive?, as opposed to other items (do not say because its a porsche, because other products for what they are are not as expensive). Also, does anyone know where to get theme for a reasonable price?

I don't have them, and don't want them. They are covers/skins right? Silly IMO. Carbon fiber is supposed to "replace" a previously heavier item...weight savings, that's the point. If it's just a cover and doesn't actually do anything, I don't need it.

The cover/skin ones are for cheapos and and of way less quality and not up to Porsche standards. The ones im talking about are the ones that have carbon permanently adhered to it and are of perfect quality and fitment since its still using the stock parts... If someone is worried about an ounce of weight saved I suggest they take a s*&% before entering their vehicle.

So, they are still covers then (albeit, really good ones)...they don't actually replace anything? Nope, not for me. Seems there are two schools of thought. Mods that add performance and have a function...I'll call this race styling. And mods that are for cosmetic purposes...I'll call this street styling. Most of the street style stuff actually has it's roots/inspiration in racing...but it stops there/falls short, IMO. You asked why people don't buy them. That's my own personal answer. No offense. But perhaps there are others that won't spend that kind of money on carbon stickers.

I think the OP is talking about the entire mirror housing not stickers. They are an option on some of the RS line Porsche models if I'm not mistaken. If it weren't for the egregiously high prices, I'd consider them (like the ones from MA Carbon).

Exactly, the MACarbon ones are really nice, but way too over priced.
That goes for alot of companies that make carbon fiber replacement parts, such as: CF GT3 wing blade, CF GT3 scoops, CF lip etc.

I would love to have all those parts, I just need to find a company who makes them high quality but also not trying to rip anybody off.

The MACarbon products look great but I agree on the pricing - the OEM mirror housings are less than $80 - hard to imagine that labor and materials get this product to over $1,600.

I have a set, almost brand new, not a single scratch on them. I took them out for updated mirrors. Please contact me if interested. Priced nowhere near $1,600
