My garage is now empty.

Well, the new owner came and picked up the car yesterday morning. I'm now porsche-less.

Funny, I was bummed about selling the car, but seeing my empty garage really bummed me out... more than I was expecting.

It was also my wife's birthday, and she was not very appreciative of me moping around the house on her special day.

Oh well. I'll just have to live vicariously through all of you guys.

Sorry to hear that, how come you had to let it go? Are you trading for something else?

+1, there must be something in the works.

I know what you mean about missing the car. My first 997 was in a bad accident, and I was going to be without my Porsche for 6 months while it was getting repaired. Since I knew I was selling my car immediately after it was finished in the body shop, I went and bought the one I have now, but it was about 2 months after the accident. My point is, that you are not alone which your little grey cloud over your head.

We'll be buying a new house sometime in the 1st half of next year, and so I needed to firm up our finances to that end.

I could have kept it until spring probably, but then it would have been worth probably $10K less. So I decided to sell it now.

I'll be back after the new house is purchased.

i see what you`re talking about - new rules about 3/6 months deposits? we just went over purchasing investment property - gosh, it was SUCH a pain, i could not beleive what idiotic government can imagine to do when it gets to private markets regulation...

good luck with your purchase, hope you`ll have no issues with lenders.

I too could be in that boat a year or two from now. If selling my car and getting something cheaper for a year to make my financial situation look better I will do it as well.

Sad day for sure. Sounds like the smart thing to do and I'll be glad to do my part so that you may live vicariously (I know, what a ba$tard!) ;>).

And, I know from experience that the wife doesn't enjoy hearing about how much I miss my car when it's gone. "Do you miss me as much as the Porsche?", she asks...

sorry to hear that, my best friend went through it earlier this year

selling it was tough, but coming home to the empty garage was the worst - he really struggled and he got 0 sympathy from his wife.

so whenever he needs a 911 fix, i let him drive mine

he's now focused on buying another next year, and he's having a lot of fun looking at the local dealerships and thinking about what color combo and options the next one will have

thinking about the next one has been the best medicine for him, that plus constantly taunting his wife with the search

start shopping now

There is a lot to be happy about .

1) At least you experienced the Porsche 997 .
2) Had you bought the house in 2008 instead of the Porsche it may have been more expensive .
3) You have something to look forward to -- a new house, future Porsches , and a wife who is happy.

You did well . Good luck and stick around.

Thanks Larry. Your pricing advice was instrumental to me when I was buying it. I think I did OK too. I sold the car for exactly what I paid for it 18 months and 12K miles ago. This was one of the motivating factors to me to sell now.
