Reminds me of a friend picking up his fresh Formula Atlantic engine from the builder. When he asked about a break in procedure the builder simply said. 'This engine will never be better than it is right now. How you choose to use the best part of it's life is up to you.

Congratulations on the car. I have only seen cabs in my area. The power should make it interesting with a 996 GT3.

A stock 2009-10 997S can hang with or beat a 996GT3 at the track

I'm a firm believer that babying engines when new tends to create a higher likelihood of trouble engines, or at least ones that rarely live up to their potential.

You know, I was going to do that last night -but I don't take as good a picture as the Porsche marketing folks.

That is soooo pretty. Love Carrera White. Have fun.

(personal preference but you can paint the side skirts white later - just fun little projects like the center locks. Below is your widebody 4s with the skirts matching in white.)

Curious - the black lower skirts match the front and rear black trim accents. That's something unique to the GTS. Why would I want to make it look like a plain Carrera?

"Plain" Carrera's have the black lower trim as does your GTS. Painting your lowers to match the body is an upgrade option on your car as well as the base Carrera. That white Carrera 4S in the photo above has the $1,700+ painted lower skirts.

It's a 3 part option - front, side, and rear painted lowers. It wasn't a unique GTS design choice by Porsche.

It's owner preference. No biggy if you don't like it.

Correct! Most would think that body color trim is a higher quality finish. The raw black plastic gets old very quickly. It also visually raises the car.

I didn't say the side skirts were unique, I said all three matching were unique - which they are. It is a visual theme that is matched by and carried through the wheels and unique exhaust.

Now, if all those other parts weren't done in black, I'd agree painting is an improvement...just like on the C4S. And I didn't mean to say ANY Carrera is plain; what I should had said was any non-GTS Carrera to be more accurate.

I will double check, but I'm fairly certain it is not raw black plastic. Painting over a painted trim piece to fit a minority opinion of higher quality seems foolish to me.

I forgot to mention, the side skirts on the GTS are not the same as on the non-GTS Carrera, and having seen a couple of these in the flesh, the black trim does not visually raise the car at all.

· Wider side skirts in black (available in body color as EXC option)
