I must have misread ... my error.
I thought you wanted to paint it so that you could sell it now.
If you plan to keep it .. then absolutely paint and document .

I've seen the repaints in the dealer showrooms that are amazing... If they get chipped up again then just repaint them again.... Most of the repaints that I see are grey and they look great... Just as cheap to repaint as to put on the clear sheeting and it looks better. but do take pics... before and after

I'd make sure to keep the receipts so if/when you do sell it, you have what was actually done fully documented. Take photos of it before you get it painted too.
This. Mine had a full paint job by the original owner who had it for six years. He kept it 4 years after the paint job. It got keyed on every panel by an angry woman. I got it for a great price because there was a carfax on it. Most people won't care about painting if you have documentation. I thought a new paint job increased value. Very finicky crowd with the P-cars. I had the car checked out by a P-car specialist/body shop, and the car has all the original panels with no bondo. With this info and the info I got from the original body shop that did the work, I had no qualms about buying the car. Some will though. I've heard of people keeping cracked windshields just so the car is all original. That's crazy. But, that's part of the expensive car world. Good Luck!
