Volkwagon, Audi, Suncoast then to dealer for programming? What do you guys do if you need an extra key and FOB?

 

Suncoast for blade & fob, have blade cut at key shop, dealer for fob programming. A bit of a PITA, but saves a few hundred dollars vs. dealer route.

I bought fob and uncut key..then shopped local P dealers for cut and program

P dealer cut $20
P dealer program $135/hr (they rip you at min charge of 1 hr)
cost of key and fob $105 thru eBay

Roughly $100-$150 than just going to Porsche...some local P dealers won't even attempt to cut key but rather just order it thru PCNA !!!

Be careful if you let just someone cut the key. Not just anyone can do it and if the wreck the job...you're screwed because you won't find out til after the programming

 

For whatever reason, they key blade ordered for me through PCNA was not the correct key. They use the VIN and at sometime in the life of my car, the locks were changed...so I ordered blank key blade and had reputable locksmith cut the new blade but had to use the dealer for the transponder programming. Suncoast is a great source.

 

I had mine done at the dealer for about $200 (key blank cut, FOB and programming), but the tech accidentally copied the wrong key. About 1 month after getting it done I tried to open my doors with the new key to no avail (but was able to start the car). Turns out they must have copied another customers key. The actual metal is only good for opening the doors. The programming is what let's it start the car as well as use the FOB buttons.
