Radar installed. dead Battery. Help

I need help guys.

Yesterday, I installed my valentine radar using the G rides kit. I used the slot C5 in the fuse box. I took off the fuse in the slot(fuse 15) and placed the add-a-fuse kit with 2 fuses of 5.

This morning the battery was dead. Anyone knows where I did wrong? I jumped started it again and it ran and restarted. But after leaving it for 3 hrs again, it wont start. It is running fine and the last time the dealer checked the battery was november(when I bought it CPO'd) and they said it was still good.

Does anybody know where in the fuse box in a 2008 C2S is a keyed on and off slot that I can use for my Valentine radar?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe a weak battery to begin with?? And the obvious question, was the V1 powered on after you shut everything down and removed the key? If it was off, then sounds like you have the correct fuse location.

I agree....I installed my V1 and used a different fuse location than what everyone suggested in the forums...I have a 2009 C4S and used C6 with add a circuit and it has been working great. C5 is my PDK fuse. As jhbrennan suggests...you may need to try the fuse locations. As another thought maybe you have something wired wrong or have a short when you where jaming the wiring btween the pillar and the dash....Fianlly does the valetine work when you do have the car running?

You used the wrong fuse - C1 for RWD and C5 for AWD (not sure about the PDK thing though - I don't have a C4). Use a fuse tap and a 10A fuse.

I did mine using C1 and has been fine for well over a year. Main thing is using a switched source - detector should have no power when car is off.

Here's a link to the instructions I followed - should be similar for V1: http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/997-...smartcord.html

Thanks for your replies guys.

Actually, I took of the radar from the porsche as I used it in my M5. But I left the add-a-fuse in C5.

I jumped started it and when I leave it it is dead in the morning.

I saw the fuse box C1 was empty so I attached it there, and still went dead in the morning. I hope I did not mess anything.

If it is the battery, then it is an easy fix. I called my dealer and he said the Original warranty covers it, but not the CPO warranty. It is still under the original warranty.

I just bought a Battery tender at amazon. I will charge it, if still thesame, then I will buy a new battery. Anyway, I need a trickle charger to avoid code problems.

Now that the weather is 70-80's, then this happens

BTW, I was happy with how the radar looks installed with the G bracket. I just wished I did not use the C5 slot and just placed it int he available fuse slot instead. Stupid moment.

Stevepow,

the G kit comes with a 5 fuse, so should I replace it then?

I have no idea - I followed those instructions in that link and perhaps there was as spare 10A that I used or I bought it with the fuse tap - been too long ago to remember the details. I don't think the value of the fuse is a big deal as long as it doesn't blow. A lower value fuse that does not blow is better than too high a value that doesn't blow when it should.

I replaced the battery and it started. My old battery would not charge even after 2 days in my battery tender.

I called my dealer and they said it is still covered by my Porsche original warranty. I will drive there and get it checked.
