How much do you know about the previous owner?

I dropped something down the side of the passenger seat and decided to go fishing for it. Mind you, this is the first time Ive ever looked under the seats of this car since I got it.

Well... to my astonishment there is a lot of room under our seats to store stuff!

I found a whole lot of stuff from the previous owner.
2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of gatorade, tons of pens, dunkin d napkins, receipts, garage door clicker, scrap paper with a to do list, and gum wrappers.

Well, being nosey I decided to rummage through the stuff.
I deduced the previous owner worked in the medical field, prob an Oncology Dr. A few pens were from oncology vendors. He probably worked in NYC since the scrap paper had dates and times he was meeting people at Blue Water Grill in Union Square and other places around the city.

I think he probably lived in the burbs since he had a garage door clicker that was VERY old and the carfax said the cars were serviced on Long Island.

Hehe, fun Sat morning!

Oh a question for the forum... Any guesses to what that screw I found under the passenger side belongs to? I hope nothing important.

TIA

Is this an older car? Since you're posting in the 997 section, I'm assuming not. Not all owners are OCD, but that level of crap would indicate a general disregard for the car - and - that can have alot of implications. Given that this is a buyers market, you may have wanted to be more selective and gone for a well cared for example. If you absolutely STOLE the car, I could understand. Still not for me, but I could understand.

Nice one. Rep points for you NV. To the OP, rep points for a making me feel that the initial buy in for a new car is well worth it.

I didn't find anything in my car. Po was pretty OCD. I even checked out his detailing kit prior to purchase.

I bought most of my cars new . But the one car i did buy used I never met or spoke to the owner but all the guys in that service drive knew him. liked him, and felt that he really took care of the car but simply lacked the time to drive it . They also knew the car and felt that I'd be happy with it and they were right. I was happy.

Out of the many cars i traded in only once did I ever speak with the new owner . He found a piece of paper with my phone number (much like the Op) and he called me . It was actually a great phone call and I told him I missed the car and hoped he enjoyed it as much as i did .

I found all of the previous owners stored nav destinations when I bought the car. Not only did he use the nav, but he stored destinations in it too! I guess i could drive from CO to Texas and retrace this car's history... Luckily, I didn't see any race tracks in there... Wonder if he left the garage door button programmed as well - I could have driven right in!

My wife has a Toyota Avalon that she bought new, which has had every service and minor repair done on time.

Yet....the interior of the car is a total disaster. Not only is everything possible just thrown in & left in (there is no way to communicate the enormity of this)....but she has a horse, so the car has layers of barn dirt and "deposits" that have come from her barn boots. I spotted a decaying apple under the driver's seat. She remarked that she had smelled the "sweet smell of aging fruit"--but didn't know where it was coming from.

And yet, she dresses well, is in sales and mechanically, the car has been well taken care of. She just treats it like an old ranch pickup truck.

When it comes to people, there's no end of interesting contrasts.

My car was completely clean and properly detailed. I had Reliable Transport deliver the car, and they even dusted it off when it arrived. I also contacted the local dealer and he provided lots of information and 38 pages of upgrades and service records.
That being said, I avoid cars that have been neglected either mechanically or cosmetically. I just avoid those issues from the onset.

I found the K40 remote...but it looks like all the hardware was removed - not sure how PO is using it without the remote. Also, he left behind a K40 bluetooth device (tucked behind the left rear taillight. Otherwise very clean.
