997-1 ECU upgrade

Is there any consensus which ECU remap is the best option. I have a 2006 C4S witch a gather has 355 BHP. I've added AWE headers, cats and exhaust but no air box at this point. I want to do the ECU and am aware of the offerings from Softronic, Fabspeed, etc but would love some feedback from others. The aftermarket modification options for adding horsepower are similar to all the muscle powders marketed to teenagers who will pay through the nose for over priced protein powder. I guess what I'm saying is that I know better but am still easily marketed to and would appreciate some advise from others.

Appreciate the feedback. Can you actually fell the difference. I gather there is somewhere between 10 and 20 additional HP. Don't mind spending the thousand dollars but would just want to be able to tell I had done it.

I researched this a while back. From what I gathered, Softronic has a great reputation...

If you want to feel the differnce on a mod, add a LWFW. I have the softronic, it adds an extra 500RPM before you start bouncing off the rev limiter.

Lightweight fly wheel. Allows for quicker throttle response but does create some additional rattle noise.

Honestly, you can do all these mods with headers, 100 or 200 cell cats, ECU re-program...blah blah blah and spends thousands of dollars and not feel much if any bang for the buck on the street. If you are an experienced track driver you might feel a little difference or maybe .5 sec better lap times.

As far as car mods go...a lightweight fly wheel makes a nice difference and then suspension work. Put on some nice muffler for better sound.....but......

If you really want to car to go faster...spend the money on DE's and proper coaching and then when you get a point by from a GT3 at the track when you are driving your 997 you know that was money well spent. It's not about the power...it's about braking and balancing the car...

I went with APR, you get the choice of which fuel you run, and switch between programs from inside of car, also free add-ons like erase fault codes, anti-theft program... with an exhaust setup and this ecu upgrade,
I can really feel the difference.

Anyone know of a mod that will re-map the throttle pedal input sensitivity? I know that Vishnu makes this for Audi and JDM cars- Basically lets you get a more sensitive pedal. I'm happy with the speed / power, and as mdrums mentioned, it is more about knowing how to drive the car than adding 10-20hp.

The only complaint I have, and that I'd like to get rid of, is the input delay on the pedal. There is no "blip" with the egas, it is more of a "mash and wait", and it blows for trying to rev match on downshift. For comparison, I tried this recently on a manual Z06 and the throttel blip / response was spot on, almost like a cable driven throttle.

I got it straight from a porsche tech that the computer does not do an initial 1-1 input to throttle response when the egas pedal is initially tapped, it is sort of an input curve and the farther it is depressed the more the input becomes 1-1. His thought was perhaps it was designed this way so soccer moms or elderly execs would not put the 911 through the garage wall accidentally when they tapped the gas pedal. LOL - who knows..

I also get an occasional engine ping when blipping the throttle- don't know what that's about but it's been there since the car was new- and has remained even with aftermarket air filters, exhaust or with everything completely stock. Anyone else have this experience with their NA car?
