Being a relatively new 911 owner, I've been reading up on design and model histories. Does anyone know why the fuel tank cap location changed from left front bumper on the 993 series to the current right front bumper location for 996/997? Just curious. Thanks for any pointers!

All german cars have the gas tank on the right..

I find it difficult sometimes to pull up to a gas pump and get out of vehicles that have the fuel door located on the driver's side. Modern gas pumps don't have the pull-out hose reel like previous designs that allowed you to refuel from either side of your vehicle. Don't know if that had anything to do with Porsche making the switch. Glad they did, nonetheless.
