Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Anyone have the new Michelin Super Sports on their 997? Supposedly a slightly longer lasting PS2, and a bit better price.

Any appreciable difference between the PS2 N1 vs. N2?

Have to buy tires soon!

Last I heard, they are not scheduled to be released in the USA until mid May. It would be nice to see a couple of independent comparison tests to validate the rather remarkable claims Michelin is making. If true it should be an awesome street/track tire. Best,

EDIT: Sorry for bad information above. Looks like they are now available via Tire Rack. I'll look forward to hearing some real world feedback.

Another EDIT: Estimated availability 04.15.11

Correct. Tirerack is taking orders and taking your credit card. But they don't expect delivery to start until mid-April, at the earliest, which is when they'll charge your card. They are pushing Michelin to ramp up ASAP. My understanding is that initial sizes for Porsches will not be labelled N1 (or any other N) since Porsche has not yet certified them via their testing at Weissach. That certification (when Michelin can add the N on the mold) is expected by the time the 991 comes out within the next 12 months. z356

Have they said whether the supersports are N-spec or is that still unknown?

Not yet. Tirerack is not expecting our 997 sizes to come N1 initially. z356

Check out this thread on the tire. It would be great if we could keep all the discussion in one place.

Porsche does intend to N rate them for the 2012 911, but I'm not sure yet what the new sizing will be.
