Rhetorical Question
Yeah, it's not enough these days you gotta look out for yourself but there are WAY too many distractions that others succumb to....radio, nav, phone calls, texting, make-up...oh, did I just ay that out loud!?!? Sorry ladies (but it is true!)
mostly texting. I see it all the time. plus i have BB and have to check work emails myself sometimes. major PITA and dangerous on the road.
Yep, texting should be illegal, I could almost predict accidents. I avoid staying behind people who stares at their phones more than the road. I've avoided two fender benders due to this, they hit the other poor person instead.
Caning?
"This is an accident," defense attorney Jeff Tomczak told the jury in his closing argument. "This is a case of a distracted driver who didn't want to hurt anybody."
Now, OK a defense attorney has to make a case for his client. No problem. But "I didn't mean to..." does not define 'accidental'. Fire a gun in a shopping mall and hit somebody - NOT an accident.
Anybody else think that serious corporal punishment would put a heck of crimp in this sort of blatant disregard for others? Yeah it's barbaric. But then so is running over some poor citizen who's minding their own business. And OK, so I'm not the most practical person in the world. And yeah, this likely doesn't belong in the 997 thread either. But...
A woman here in Chicago was driving while painting her nails a couple of years ago. She hit and killed another woman on a motorcycle.

If you think that's bad, you should come down to South Florida and take a drive on I95 in the rain.
Just imagine 1000 bad drivers with bald tires on a soaking wet road....it's not pretty.
