Newbie questions re: pre-owned 997
When I was looking at a 2011 and requested lease payment to see what it was.
on a car with msrp of 128k payment for 3 years was $2500 a month..
after 3 year pretty much bought that car.

As an alternative, you can always look at taking over someone else's lease.
Sites like Leasetrader.com list quite a few 911s of various years, with various mileage allowances etc.
Not affiliated with them at all, just a happy multiple user of their services.
I used them to get into my first 911 for under $1,000 a month with 12 months left on the lease. I have used them on three other occasions (non-Porsche vehicles), both to get in and out of a lease. Never had a bad experience.
Upside: someone else made the downpayment, all you do is pick up the monthly payments for the remainder of the lease. You get to know the car while it is still under warranty. If you like it, you can buy it at lease end, as a known quantity (meaning you know everything there is to know about the car as you've driven it for X months). If not, you hand it back and walk away.
Some examples:
2008 Carrera, 39 months left, 1,400 miles/month allowed, $1,098 / month, buy-out is $24,640 at lease end, which makes your total cost $67,600 including finance charges.
2009 Carrera S Cabriolet, 18 months left, 1,100 miles/month allowed, $1,399 per month (residual not listed).
2009 997 Turbo, 11 months left, 1,590 miles/month, $1,800 per month
There are options out there.

With 5% off MSRP, the payments drop to $1750. If you can get the buy rate, it drops to $1715.
This assumes the car is not loaded with so many options that it's over the max that can be used to calculate residual (depends on the model and transmission, for Cayman S PDK it's 79k for example).
I am not giving up easy, found a 2008 C2 not very many options. 20788 miles. $54.9k. It's at a local P-car dealer. The car facts report looks okay? It been there since Dec. and it was not CPOed. Is this strange?

Where are you getting these numbers? Without even a discount off MSRP, if the residual is 53% (depends on model) and MF .00138 (.00020 higher than current buy rate), the payments would be $1941 + tax.

2011 gts cab msrp 128 no crazy options (pdk ,chrono, heated seats, dynamic lights, clear rear lights, limited slip,)
I attached the window sticker
he did not tell me what the residual is.even if you do the payment estimator online which does not show tax..its about the same using a
S Cab and bumping price up

I wonder if the dealer was including tax, in TX, we have to pay tax on the entire purchase amount, not just on the payment.
that also includes DMV fee's which here that car would be around $1500 a year or more
Next month is tomorrow.
