Is it ok to use Different tyre brand front and Rear?

Hi Guys,

my rear is due for a change and dealer only has Pirelli P Zero avail.

My front dont look that worn so thinking to just change the rears first.

The front are Michellin PS2

Any issues?

You must use the same tire model/rating front and back. If dealer does not have your brand he may offer to install 4 for the price of 2.

on a yugo, sure - drive all year on 4 spare donuts if you want. for a porsche, please dont. bite the bullet and get 4 new tires. it can be done but why? you will compromise safety, handling and fuel econ. besides, there are plenty of other places that have tires to sell, find a matching set.

Agree. One manufacturer's standards for performance tires may (probably are) different from the next tire manufacturer. Where do you draw the line on compatability? Are you saying Pirelli and Michellin are close enough, but Michellin and, say, Nitto or Dunlop are not? Play it safe and get a matched set.

OP, are you really in Singapore? Because I would love you to start a thread about how much it costs to own a 911 in Singapore. I bet tires are chump change compared to import taxes and additional registration fees.

I tried and didn't like it at all. Everytime I looked at it I felt disgusted with myself. I don't believe it hurt the car....just my feelings.

Do some checking and order the two rears from someone else to replace the worn ones and match the fronts. Sure wouldn't replace two front tires that don't really need replacing. My fronts last twice as long as the rears.
