back to a 911--- but 2 kids??
I just had twins last week and my neighbors are all betting I will have to get rid of my car now within a year. I would buy another car to drive the kids around if it ever becomes necessary before I sell my 911. I don't see why I would ever need to as we have an SUV also that my wife drives.
When I pull up and get the two girls out of the back of the 911...
Every dad in a mini van just gives you this look. Half spite, half jealousy. Love it.
Hmmm, how tall was he until he refused to get into the car??
My 10 years old is about 5' now and my car is coming in May so I am trying to estimate how long this can be our "family" car.

The lady at the end of this video did it . You may have to opt for a yellow one though.

After 5'6" he started wanting to not sit in the back for an hour and half trip to my sister's house.
I've been back and forth on a number of cars lately and was thnking I'd wait until a used Panamera 4S was in range in a couple of years but after seeing threads like this one it has me thinking of a C4S.
My kids are 5 and 8 and my wife is very short 4' 10" and I'm only 5' 8" so I think everyone would fit on short trips. Most of the time it would just be me in the car anyway and on the weekend we always use her van.
I'll have to test one out with the family.

I take my 7 year old daughter to school in my C2S. She loves it, and complains if I suggest we take the Range Rover instead. You would think she would prefer the view from the RR and the extra space, but no. The Porsche is faster, she says. And she likes pulling her backpack, lunch bag out of the front trunk, hoping people will notice and wonder where the engine went. Even on a long drive, nary a complaint, e.g. when we went L.A. to Big Sur in one day, on to S.F. then back to L.A. on I-5 the next day.
I think 2 kids are no big deal, especially for a quick trip. It starts getting dicey when you go to 3 passengers, and someone has to sit behind driver. I'm 6'1, the P car is no problem to haul 2 but I shudder to think of someone other than a bag of groceries, in the seat behind me!
My kids prefer it over my Jeep Cherokee. They're five and seven, and always request we go in the "little car." Even when the temperature outside is in the low 60's, they beg me to take the top down, and they hold up the whirlygigs I keep in the trunk for them. The Recaro booster seats with seatbelt extenders work beautifully - look and fit as if they were made for my 4CS Cab. I'm 6' and even with the seat pulled slightly forward to make room for my son behind me, it's a comfortable ride.
Trust me -- you'll make your whole family very happy, and every other family very, very jealous.

I do love the Porsche and wished I could drive it everyday. But the mini van is so much better hauling the kids around. I don't have to bend over backwards trying to buckle them in. Plus there isn't a DVD entertainment system to keep them occupied and quiet. It's doable but I rather not.
I guess I’ll have to wait a bit after all, I’ll want at least a 2009 4s. I have 350hp/360tq in a 3,300lb AWD car already. Doesn’t remotely compare to a Porsche but I don’t want it to feel slower even if it isn’t.
i think the rear space in the 997's gets a bad rap in general. it's far from ideal, but i regularly squeeze 2-3 friends in for short trips. just last night i took my 92 year old grandpa (5'2") and his caretaker (5'3") on a 20 minute drive from NYC to NJ.
to me, the real issue with using the back seats for humans is actually something else --
Performance and, to a lesser extent, safety. the car feels sluggish under this kind of scenario and the braking power, to me, seems to significantly diminish. mind you, when i have more than 1 passenger i go below the speed limit and drive very conservatively. also you can feel the suspension drop, not in a good way (i scraped my bottom on grandpa's driveway last night, even at a crawling speed).
overall, you just get the sense the whole time that the car isn't designed to handle that kind of weight and to be honest, it doesn't feel totally safe either.
maybe these issues are exacerbated in a targa bc it's a 150 or so pounds heavier to begin with, but i think it's something to consider for any prospective 997 owner who's planning to haul around kids regularly. at the least, imho, take them with you on a test drive.
