Battery help...

So I left the keys in the 997 overnight and now the battery is dead. Eventually got into the trunk and now I have access to the battery. I've tried charging it and starting it and it's just not working. How long should I leave the battery charging thing on there?

Do I just need a whole new battery?

How old is your battery? Peace of mind if you replace - less than $90 at Walmart for Maxx 94R - direct fit replacement and better warranty than Porsche.

On a trickle charger it will take a full 24 hours to charge a dead battery. If after that time the battery has no more juice than it did before you started to charge it, take it Auto Zone, or someplace like that, and have them test the battery for you. (it's free). If it tests bad, buy a new one. If it tests OK it needs to be charged on a full sized battery charger.

Most trickle charger will NOT recharge a depleted battery. You first need to give it at least its nominal voltage of 12.6 Volts. Then you can install the trickle charger.

Also, top off the cells w/ DISTILLED water before charging (there's a little L hook inside each cell and the level should be to the bottom of the L). The OEM Porsche battery looks like a sealed unit but the middle of the sticker peels back and you can use a quarter to unscrew the lid on each cell...

Good luck
