Shopping for new clutch for C2S

The clutch in my 2006 C2S is going to need replacing soon.

Is there ANY reason not to use a Sachs clutch kit, as opposed to a Porsche OEM clutch kit? They both reference the Porsche Part number etc.

The price differential pays for part of the labor.

Please note: I am not a mechanic. I am a driver. I will buy the Porsche part if there is a compelling reason to do so. If Sachs and Porsche OEM are the same part with a different branding, I'd just as soon get the Sachs.

I look forward to the feedback.

I would put in OEM factory parts unless you have very specific reason why you need sport aftermarket clutch.

Not at all sure if that makes sense for you -

i am not sure if regular sachs kit is a 'springed' type clutch which you would need for LWFW, plus, people who really need LWFW usually know what clutch they will use.

1) nobody *needs* a LWFW, just like nobody *needs* a lot of stuf that we buy.

2) I'm a guy that likes to spec my own stuff - instead of, or in collaboration with my mechanic. With a LWFW, I'd let him pick out all the parts, but I'd be the first to bring up the topic when the time comes (and the OEM clutch goes).

Thanks for the feedback.
A couple of follow-up questions (I'm looking to be educated):
1. What does the LWFW do, compared to the stock flywheel?
2. What type of clutch should I be looking at if I decided to go with a LWFW?
3. How will the LWFW/Sport clutch affecty the daily drive?

Before installing a lightweight flywheel, do a thorough search of the forum (6speed & rennlist) threads to be sure this is what you really want to do. Potential driveability and other problems. If the clutch needs to be done anyway, the Sachs upgrade with stock flywheel is a low differential cost.

Great advice. LWFW is a trade off that is not for everyone. Search is the best first step.
