Thinking about the new 991 vs the Maserati which to buy?
I was thinking of leasing a new 991 C4S when it comes out next year? The problem is that I really like the look of the 2011 Maserati GranTurismo S MC SPORTLINE thats out right now. I was thinking that I should wait for the new 991's to come out first before I pull the trigger on a Maserati. I was @ the Yankee game ( Yankee's won
) yesterday and saw someone with a blacked out Maserati (08-11), it looked
....... I noticed still from when my friend bought his in 05 that they stilll havent put in a sunroof? Thats another question I hope someone can answer, and that would suck big time. Also I feel the drop with the those big rear seat just stick out too much for my personally taste, the drop is safe to say out the question as far as the Maserati is concerned as well. Idk what to do
. Any info or personal input would be great. Pretty much I hope I can get over the fact of no sunroof, and also the performance of the 2 cars as well.....ghezzz what to do.....Safe to say both cars are a little over the hundred range.

Wow, totally different cars to compare.
Don't know what you're looking for, but 911 all the way for me.
If you want more luxury than driving, then I'll get an Aston way before a Maserati.
If you want more interior space, then any version of Panamera will do, i.e. I don't see any reason to buy a Maserati. (just saw that you already have a Panamera, good job!)

it's pretty simple really, do you favor luxury/looks/sound or pure performance? (though the 991 will surely go a ways towards bridging the gap in luxury). how hard do u intend to drive?
they just opened a new maserati dealership in tribeca -- lots of models on the floor. go for a test drive. also manhattan motors have pre-owned maseratis and of course a ton of porsche's, so you can compare side by side.
me, i have no interest in buying a maserati or aston... i can't wait for the 991!
One more thing -- the C4S models almost definitely won't be part of the initial 991 lineup. You're probably looking at another year, but who knows, maybe they will speed that up this time

The Maserati is a great sounding comfortable car . I think you will get bored .
If you want to have all that styling appeal and a more edgy drive then the real answer is the 458 italia ... but you will need another car to use daily. (costs about 260).
Looks nice in white as a street car --

Even the Maserati .. they drove it to Yankee Stadium ? Yikes !!!
There are too many videos of sports fans running amok when their team wins or loses to park any nice cars.

991 is not even close to being out for sale yet....you'll have to wait until this time next year.
However they will be totally different cars....Porsche 911 is a sports car....Maseratti is a Italian luxory car.....think 7 series BMW, SL Benz and the sort.

If you want it to start when you turn the key (every time): Porsche
If you want it to look really cool sitting in the lot outside the shop: Maserati
Since you actually will have to buy (at least) two of the Maseratis to ensure that one can actually be driven at any point in time, the Porsche is the better value.

I think it is a reasonable comparison considering the 991 is going "upmarket" regarding luxury and the specific Maser he's asking about is going "hard-core". So ultimately both brands are taking the individual cars into each others' range.
The real question depends on the OP's plans. If you rarely-to-never track the car I'd say the Maser will give you the beauty, style, grace, with enough performance to have a blast at the track should you please.
The 991 will still look like a 45 year-old design, aging gracefully, with modern amenities and accoutrements with enough luxury for most people's needs. Should you decide to track the car; it will make you look like a hero and show the real beauty of a Porsche.
Cannot go wrong with either; depends on your lifestyle.

I had a Maserati. Beautiful, exciting, rare beast. But I found it just not very well made. Little things, like plastic ***** breaking off, bugged the crap out of me. The Porsche is so much more dependable and, in my opinion, a higher-quality vehicle.

The Maser GT is a beautiful car. There was a silver 2010 GT here for $110K, absolutely stunning with an interior to die for. You will get noticed a lot more in the GT than a 911.
The other alarming issue is the steep depreciation of Masers.
I have to smile every time someone asks "which car would you buy, a Porsche or a [fill in the blank]" - in a Porsche forum.
Ask the same question in a Maserati forum and see what answers you get there..
