JUST AN EXCUSE to check in
hey Guys,
I was drivin' with my 5 year old son today, up in the hills of Malibu... and my sweet little boy asked (once again) about the 'timer' on my dashboard... (the chrono, you know...) And he says, "Daddy, how do we use that?" And Daddy was like.... uh... well... I'll have to find out!"
Truth is, I've owned my 06 997 s since March of 08... and never engaged that awesome lookin' accessory... I KNOW I CAN READ THE MANUAL.
But this is just an excuse to say hello and check in with this awesome forum.
How many have used the chrono?
How do you like it?
Oh yeah... and how do I use it???
Thanks!
DJS

It's pretty much useless and quite frankly a distraction to start/stop it while driving or tracking. What would be really cool is if the passenger could control it while running laps so you don't wreck your car trying to set it ...
It is best used at the track where you can program the distance around the track and have it record lap times for you. If you don't track then it is best used for timing how long it takes your wife to come out to the car...

I leave it on because I like it lit up at night. Yesterday, I used it to time how long it took for us to get into the Holland Tunnel in heavy traffic, just so I could prove to my wife we should have gone up to the Lincoln instead. (I was wrong) ;-)
Pretty much useless for day to day driving. I personally like the look of it. You use the left stalk thingy to use it, IIRC. Press it go up or down till you get to chrono. Select that and off you go. I think you can operate it from PCM too.

Dude, you almost got me in trouble at work...
