Air vent on stock tail -light

While installing the Dectane LED tail lights, I noticed that the
stock tail lights have an air vent. Maybe this is to prevent
condensation. My Question: Do the Dectane LED lights
need an air vent as well?? This would be an easy modification- small hole plus a rubber tubing.

I'm actually debating the C2S vs. the C4S. A lot will ride on where we land next. I'm a firm believer in driving the car whenever I can (no garage queen here) and if we go somewhere where the AWD will help consistently, I'll make that change. I'm also considering a cabrio or targa.

While getting my car service this past week, I finally get to see what the lights look like when the tech drove it into service bay. Yeah sad, I am the only driver of this car so I've never seen it in action. Suffice to say it's worth every penny!

Dectane / Depo come with air vents - they have plastic plugs inside for shipping which should be removed on installation - you can transfer the rubber hoses from OEM to Depo if required. The vents are there to dry out condensation rather than prevent it.

Does anybody have a pic of the Dectane vents? I read this post and went out and took one of mine off. I don't see vents in the same place as on the original (06). There appear to be two things with a clear(ish) plastic covers which could be vents. But, when I took the clear plastic covers off the "vents" are too big in diameter for the rubber pieces that are on the vents on the original light.

That's them. If you want to use the OEM rubber you will need to warm it up to stretch it to fit, The rubber right angle serves as an indirect vent to prevent moisture running in, but as you drive the car air rushes in and clears it anyway. It depends upon your climate whether you feel these are necessary I suppose, or whether you just leave the clear plugs in place.

Thanks very much for the clarification! Rep points added.

Ordered mine from fish123@speedstersource.com, they were here in 2 days, and installed in 3 minutes. Fantastic upgrade.

The backup lights look very weak to me, however, perhaps that's a resistor issue?

I thought the backup lights were incandescent bulbs, not led's so shouldn't be a resistor issue if that's the case.

Backup lights are indeed pathetic due to the tiny slit available for the light to shine through. It would have been better had they put LED backup lights as well

I may put the originals back in, and send these back.
Being able to see when I back up is, ummm, important.

I was trying to put LED's on the backup lights but they didn't turn on and gave me a warning on the dashboard. I think is because the polarity, but this kind of bulbs (bayonet base) you can alter the polarity by rotating them, so maybe I need to switch the cables.... I'm a little bit hesitant to cut and re-attach wires on a perfectly functioning light...
