hi guys....

regarding those who got the warning check light message....

my 911tt is 2009 and i got the check light message couple of times now... but it only appears for few seconds and then it goes away..and the lights are working just fine...

so.. those of you who got the check light message ... dose the warning message disappear like mine or stays there ?

and should i be worried
i fixed the lights without the extra resistors

08 turbo - installed 3.5 months ago with the resistor packs - no problems ever.

So I had the 'check left brake light' 3 times since I installed (so over the last 2.5 weeks). I did not use resistors; I did unplug/reinstall, and since then no problems, but still did not use resistors. I am not sure if lack of resistors could lead to the units 'frying' or short-circuiting......but it does seem that the majority with later 997's have not been using the resistors. I have an 08.

Seems hit or miss to me based on the postings so far. I have an 06 with a july 05 build date and did not install the resistors and have no problems even when the fog is activated.

I had the exact same problem on my 07 C4S. The message came and went but was on for a few seconds then disappeared. This has happened 3 or 4 times soon after installing them but has not come back again in the last month, and I have not changed anything. Maybe the car has just "learned" to accept them now

Did you use resistors? I did not. Like I said it is working now, but wondering if best to install resistors for the long term to deal with impedance of current (now I am totally BSing). But does it make sense that the wires could take on too much of a current-load and over time burn out, thus maybe best to install resistors anyway.............

You don't need to worry about wires burning up whether you add the resistor packs or not. The resistors just fake the system into believing there is an incandescent light bulb in the circuit instead of an LED. It's possible that it takes a combination of things, like having the heater on at the same time as the lights, etc that causes the intermittent alarm message if you don't have resistors. If you received resistors you can install them and it may stop the intermittent alarms. Also make sure the connections are clean and tight.

Is anyone having any problems with condensation getting inside the lens? I had a minor case of this happen last night when I was parked outside, but it was gone this morning after I stored the car in my heated underground garage.

Anyone else?

Have you guys observe the LED intensity after adding the resister pack? Does it make the LEDs dimmer?

I have a set on order for my 06 C2S. From what I'm reading here, should the general suggestion be that everyone should install the extra resistors as a matter of course?

I would say so. Frank did respond to my inquiry today:

thank you very much for your patience and apology our late reply.

Of course we would like to take care about your problem.

Did you notice that your car has already factory equipped resistors?

If that is not the case you have to use the extra resistors. Please try that out and get back to us with any info.

If everything is not working, we have to replace the lights. Please keep us update. Hopefully it works.

Anyway, its not a big to deal stick them on, so you may as well just do that. Good luck.

Yes. There is no risk associated with using them.

We use the Dectane lights on our car and highly recommend their product.
