I have an 06 as well. PCM 02 is not that bad (the iDrive I had in my 08 135i was better). It is functional and is better than the Garmin my son has.
I had the dealer install an iPod adapter and I play it through a FM station. Again not as good as the fully intergrated iDrive on the 135i or even the plug in unit on my 06 330i but it still works.
Besides, if you get a Gundo Hack you won't want to listen to the iPod anyway.
