997.1 and 997.2 / Sport Chrono package

Hey guys.
I keep hearing people talk about their 997.1 or their 997.2 what is the difference? what does this mean? Also what does the Sport Chrono package have over the regular standard non Chrono package Carrera?
Thanks for the education fellows....

997.1 represents the carrera that was sold between model years 2005-2008. 997.2, a refreshed verison of the 997 debuted in 2009.

The sports chrono package is basically a software update for the car that provides the driver with lap/track timing abilities, sport mode, sport plus mode and launch control (if you have a PDK for the prior two). It also includes an analog clock on the dash for the timing aspect.

Honestly, you'll never use it. What you will use though are the sport/sport plus buttons though, especially if you have PDK.

I agree - unfortunately, it isn't. At least not on the base. It might be on the S, but not so sure ...

The SC package in conjunction with PCM also allows the owner to set and store more personal preferences like lighting, etc.
