Do you have any other red in your car? Otherwise it looks odd if you don't. I too used Bob's DIY. Here's a few other tip that wasn't clear in Bob's thread. There is a little plastic ring that locks the **** in. You have to twist to the right, silly me I twisted the leather (facepalm moment). Once you unlock it, Pull up the leather and pull up from the bottom. I've thread to pull from the top and hard a really hard time.

 

I dont know who told you that just a red shift **** looks odd. I hate to burst your bubble, but it doesn't.
It looks rather good.

 

The GT2RS has a lot of red alcantara so it matches, if you had red seat beats, it might work but in my opinion it looks odd with the lonely red on the shift ****. It's just my opinion, it's your car, so you opinion is all that matters.

 

Bumping this thread. I bought the GT3 alcantara shift **** and cannot figure out how to install it!!

I did lift up the 'boot' easily...but cannot get the OEM **** off.
Help me out fellas..

 

There is a plastic tab that locks it in place, you will feel it, twist it to the right to unlock, pull the leather all the way up, you will see the steel shaft. Everything besides the steel shaft needs to come out. Grab from the bottom and pull hard, requires some force. Hope that helps.

 

^ Thx. The plastic tab located in between the **** and boot, correct? Can I hand turn it or requires other tools like pliers or wrench to twist/turn it?

 

Hand turn, it's plastic, it doesn't require too much force.
