Where Have All the (Black / Black) C2S' Gone?

I'm serious about plunking some money down for a nice, pre-owned, low mileage 6-speed C2S. Preferences are for Black (regular, not Basalt) / Black, and only "must have" options are Sport Chrono, NAV and stock C2S wheels (as opposed to Sport Design or Carrera Classics).

Given that these cars launched in August 2004, I would have thought that seven months later, I would have started to see some good supply come onto the market. Especially since the Cabriolet's are also now available.

It continues to amaze me how tight the market is. Dealers are indicating that there are no cars in either in production, on the ship or on the ground that match my specs - a claim that I find hard to believe, but which has been provided to me by separate dealers in separate states.

The used car market barely gets a car, and it's already bought the next day at close to MSRP. Even the Launch Edition cars - those PCCB-wearing bad boys that dealers couldn't get off their lots - are getting hard to find at a reasonable price. There is one LE on eBay right now, and I'm waiting to hear back on what the dealer is asking.

Anybody know when the market is going to ease? It's not like I'm asking for an insanely unique combination! Can't figure it out.

If anybody knows of a nice pre-owned Black / Black C2S that matches my specs (or more), or a nice pre-owned LE car that is sub-$90K, please PM me or post.

I was going to see how long it would take to get an ordered car, but my guess is that you are looking at a September build for an 06' car at the earliest.

And what would these early owners be trading up to ,just after a few months, in the Porsche range ? Any "launch cars" you see now on the used market were probably lemons , possibly thrashed without warm up /break in and put away wet by all the "looky-lous" as first dealer test drive vehicles .

You never know with considerably expensive cars - Some people simply bite off more than they can chew with a car payments and insurance and are forced to sell after indulging for a few months.

Potential reasons to trade out of the 997 C2S include:

- Biting off more than you can chew vis-a-vis lease / finance payments
- Bored with it, and moving on to the next exotic
- Need liquidity for a major project / business venture
- Family issues (new kid coming, etc.)
- Just don't like it

I can name another five, but at the end of the day, the market is what it is - which is very tight.

I would have thought that there would be a LITTLE more supply than is currenly indicated.

Many people I believe only bought a C2S in anticipation for their true desired 997, i.e. until other bvariants come out like the cabs, 4S and TT
Wait a bit longer and you should see more supply
Same happened when 996 cabs first came out

Thanks for the leads TheJudge. The Pre-Owned Network on the Porsche Website has a (straight) Black / Sand if that interests you.

Just get one out of state and widen your search. Call a few dealers around to see the wait time or get a car broker to help you find it.
