Thanks for the responses. You guys definitely have me thinking that I should just try to do this myself. I've looked through the older diy posts. I tried to look under the car but it seemed to me too low to get a good view. I'm considering investing in some rhino ramps. I have a socket wrench kit with a shorter handle. Will I definitely need a longer handle or other tools to reach the bracket bolts?

Did you get these installed? Let me know if you have any install questions. It's a fairly straight forward job once you understand which nuts to remove.

Install is done. Found a place, rennology, that did the install for me for 175. I was pretty happy with their service and the price was reasonable compared to other quotes I was getting. Exhaust sounds amazing! A bit louder than I expected but I'm not disappointed! Thanks darin. Hopefully you should have my stock exhausts by now.

Ditto. I'd add that unless your average muffler shop is familiar working on modern Porsche's, I'd bring it to a Porsche private service shop. There are very few people (other than myself) who I'd allow to put a wrench on my Porsche's, and muffler shops are just not one of them.
As has been written many times on this forum, these are $100K+ cars and shaving expenses here and there just doesn't make much sense.
So, unless you can do it yourself (which is a fine choice if possible) I'd take it to someone who well knows these cars.

Thanks for all the helpful information on the muffler installation. I didn't take off my bumper or put the car on jacks or a ramp. My C4 is lowered so I had to jack it up to pull the mufflers out from under the car, but that's it. I used a Craftsman low profile ratchet and snap-on deep 13mm to take off all three nuts that attach the muffler to the car. Make sure you loosen both clamps that attach to the CAT. I tried to pull it off with only one loose and realized i needed to loosen both. The right side muffler didn't want to come out so i took the torx bolt out that connects the bracing rod to the bottom of the bumper and the muffler came out easily. This took me from start to finish 1.5 hours. Most of the time spent will be the 1/16 turns of the bolts you get on the ratchet.

The sound of the Fister D is amazing. I find myself rev matching on every shift when my windows are down and i'm coming into a nice corner.

Does 4 hours for the install of Fister exhausts and sharkwerks x pipe sound ridiculously long? One porsche specialist estimated it would take that amount of time if it's a straight forward install. Each of these porsche specialist shops have an hourly labor rate at $110-115/hr around my area. I rather not take it to an exhaust shop.

mechanics work off of book time for any particular job. it will probably take a competent mechanic only 1hr to do the whole job, but book time allows them to charge the customer 4hrs.

some of their mechanic shop manuals have an estimated time for r&r (removal and replace) and that's book time.

that sounds outrageous if that is true.

I'll reword my question. Is $450-500 a fair price for the install of sharkwerks cross pipe and Fister mufflers?

Had my Fisters installed this past July by a high end Porsche repair shop. They charged me $219, i think it took them 1-1.5 hours.

Why would you only get one quote? call 4-5 indy porsche shops in your area and go with the best quote...

Exactly what I did. Ended up getting a fair price and great service at Rennwerke.

Mufflers can be done in less than an hour. I cannot imagine $400 to $500 in labor.
