Away from 997 for 3 months?
Away from 997 for 3 months?
So I will be away from my 997 for 3months
I plan on getting a cover for the car, and perhaps the dual-mode battery charger..
unfortunately I don't have anyone to start the car for these 3 months.. I could ask a friend, but I'm sure they would take the opportunity to joy ride with my car
will not starting it for that long be a problem? anything else I should do to prepare it for the storage? Would Porsche offer me a service to take care of the car for 3 months? (starting it, etc..)
is the battery charger necessary? I need to go through a lot of trouble to get to an electrical outlet in my garage and if I can just skip it all together, that'd be awesome
Thanks

Battery maintainer is an absolute must. Fill the fuel tank and add a fuel additive into the tank with the objective of keeping the fuel from aging. I would also overinflate the tires a little to avoid flat spots although not sure if three months is that big of a deal.
I store my car 3-4 months every year. It's advisable that you don't start the car during storage because contrary to popular belief - just starting the car, warming up the engine, and shutting it off again creates more wear than starting her up once after you come back.
As suggested above I would just over inflate the tires and plug in a battery maintainer.
When you're back, pull the starter fuse, crank it a few times to circulate engine oil, and you're all set.

Get get a battery maintainer, over inflate your tires is not necessary for 3 months. I store my cars for 4 months and never had to inflate my tires. Longer than that then it's probably wise to. Washed and wax, then throw a car cover over it, there will be a lot of dust if you don't.
