I agree with most here. Don't bother throwing money at an NA porsche motor short of a turbo or SC, you'll get squat in return.

Drive an '08' and an '09' S on the same day. I think you'll see why others say go fo the 09S. That's what I did.

I'm really sick of hearing "no noticeable gains" for n/a cars.

i come from an AP1 S2000, which comes with a 2.0L N/A engine which pushes out 240bhp.
that's an incredible 120hp/liter.
on s2ki, people will say ALL DAY that exhaust will yield you 1-2whp and headers 3-4whp and so on. EVERY WHP adds up and on top of that you save weight. a couple pounds here and a couple pounds there, it really adds up in the end.

bolt-ons and tuning usually doesn't show a huge gain in peak whp, but gains noticeable power throughout the powerband.

FULL PIPING + ECU tune on a 997 C2 should be quicker or just as fast as a 997 C2S.

is the power difference between a C2 and C2S "unnoticeable?"

You can win in this game and you can lose in this game. If part A = 1 hp and part B = 1 hp A+B doesn't always equate to 2. You can go negative. I've been there.

Alan C I agree with you.

Let's see... According to AWE'S website, headers, mufflers and cats for a 997 are approx $4700.00, not including shipping, taxes and installation. They indicate 11-12 crank hp and 10-11 crank tq for a standard 997 and 28-39 crank hp and 28-31 crank tq for a 997S. You're well over $5000.00 for 10 hp and 10 tq crank on a non S. The numbers they quote for an S model are better, but it's still very expensive hp and that doesn't account for the drop in low end torque.

In comparison, Softronic offers a ecu flash for a turbo for $1549.00. They claim 80 hp and 90 lb torque. EPL, EVOMS, Protomotive, 911 tuning, etc will all tell you the same. I'm not trying to sell you on a turbo or telling you not to spend your money the way you want, I'm just giving you information about NA v FI cars and the resultant gains you can expect when you modify either.

IPD plenum, headers, 200 cell cats, exhaust, and ECU. The car is a beast! You will notice the gains. Be very careful, mods are addicting!
