I don't think so. I believe the engine temp only controls the cooling fan, not the spoiler.

I understand the need to see it...

from the manual:
Engine compartment temperature under
122 °F/55 °C
Spoiler extends at 75 mph/120 km/h and retracts
at 37 mph/60 km/h.
Engine compartment temperature over
140 °F/60 °C
Spoiler extends at 50 mph/80 km/h and retracts
at 19 mph/30 km/h.

Yes, if it wasn't deploying, you'd get an error code. When I replaced my decklid for my GT3 wing, I got that error OVER AND OVER AND OVER and yes I was crazy - couldn't wait to get it to the dealer to fix the code! But now I can see my spoiler all the time

Somehow I knew this might happen if I didn't take your earlier hint to read the manual. I hate it when that happens. Sure enough, it does extend and retract at lower speeds for high (greater than 140 degrees) engine compartment temp, as described in the manual (Page 63 in my case). Thanks for the clarification.
