997.1 Rear LED conversion to 997.2

Hi All,

I am thinking of doing this conversion right now using original OEM LED 997.2 rear lights and have a few questions to ask:-

1. For those who did it, did you buy a new/used 997.2 rear bumper or did you modify the original 997.1 bumper to fit the LED lights by engaging a really good bodyshop?

2. If you did buy use the 997.2 rear bumper, did you have to purchase other parts? I compared the PET diagram of the 997.1 vs 997.2 and noted several different part numbers even though the pictures look kinda similar. e.g. reinforced rear bar, lateral holder (L&R), tail pipe heat shields etc.

3. Can i just buy the Rear LED lights (L&R), control unit and harness adapter and coded by PIWIS and be done with the modification?

Any insight to this would be most appreciated.

Regards, Peter

I ordered the LED lights from dectane, straight bolt-in and worked great with no modifications

Search is your friend. i could think of 3 threads with this title and v35 is your man if you want to PM him. Save yourself some money and time, buy the dectane LED's.

I certainly did search but mostly just say they finally installed the LED rears.

However, i am interested to know if they bought just the OEM LED lights or a new bumper to install? If you did buy a new bumper, did you have to purchase other parts to make the new bumper fit our 997.1 or just the bumper alone would suffice.

No doubt the dectane's look nice, but i prefer to OEM originals. To each his own i guess.

My thread is just about as detailed as it can get: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...wing-pics.html

I kept my 997.1 bumper. If you want to get the 997.2 bumper there are parts like you mentioned that are different and will need to be replaced. That is why I kept my old bumper. Since then I've changed my bumper to the Precision Porsche 997.2 GT3 rear that is compatible with the 997.1 internals.
