Hello All - hope someone can possibly shed some light. Check engine light came on this afternoon - flashing with a nice red exclamation mark beside it. There was a really weird gurgling sound from the muffler like it was under water and the car was shaking a fair bit. Pulled it over and called for a tow. Wondering what it could be? Currently working with Porsche Dealer to do an oil consumption test and am really hoping that the well isn't dry due to a faulty gauge.

Any ideas what would cause the car to sound like it is under water? Again, it is an 05 with just over 20K miles. Thanks in advance.

 

Possible air oil separator problem. Sept. issue of Excellence has a article about the AOS in their tech forum. In the section on AOS failure it describes symptoms similar to what you described.
