For one thing, there is a 600 lb weight difference between the two. It's interesting that the 911 weighs less than a Corvette!
I have a Mercedes C63 AMG, which has a 6.2L V8 peaking at 451 hp and 443 ft-lb, so I'm familiar with the muscle car thing. With that as my benchmark, other cars I test drove felt really underpowered, including Porsches, so I really wondered whether Porsches are worth the money. But as I drove the Porsches more and more, I came to appreciate that their power is enough if you're attentive to gear selection, and the other attributes of the car more than make up for the lack of power. Now I feel that the overall driving experience with my 911S cab - the way everything comes together - is so good that, sadly, my C63 now really feels lacking in comparison. To paraphrase someone else, the C63 is a bodybuilder whereas the 911 is an athlete.

I just picked up a '06 Targa 4S, love the power of the S (had test drove the non S model and it has plenty of power too, but you notice the difference with the S), the 4 is great, really feels great with the power being delivered between the front and rear and found the Targa to be a nice compromise between the coupe and the cab.

Personally, I don't care for the humo on the back of the cab; I love the design lines of the rear of the coupe and Targa. The light from the glass roof of the targa is very nice.

One design complaint I have with the targa is when the glass roof is open, it is not flush, it leaves about a 5" overhang of the window.

For touring the Targa is terrific.

I forgot to add, my 7 year old loves sitting in the back. Search car seats, there is a terrific amount of info.

Camaro versus Porsche 911.

At the end of the straight part, the Porsche will turn left and keep going, while the Camaro will stop and brag about how fast it got to the part where you have to turn.

Lmfao, touché. Indeed the Camaro is a pig compared to the 911. Absolutely no comparison between the two. Although that V8 roar certainly is intoxicating.

I thought the back was the same size in both coupe and cab? I've heard guys removing back seats to help accommodate infant car seats. Anyone else have problems installing these in the back of a cab without removing the rear seats?

SEoperator-

Have you given thought to what options you may want on your P-car? As you are probably aware, there's a myriad of options available and even the pre-owned search may yield a lot of different configurations.

We have a baby on the way and everywhere I've read indicates that it's not possible to put a REAR-facing infant seat in the back. In a coupe especially, you will have a hard time getting the infant in the seat even if the seat was able to physically fit back there. We are kinda disappointed and will have to wait till the kid is old enough to sit in a forward-facing toddler seat so he/she can go in the back with us. If you had a two-seater (cayman), you're exempt as you just disable the pass. airbag and place the rear-facing seat in the front seat.

the back seat is the same size in both cars but the angle of the seat back is different. The seat back in the cab is forward to make room for the top. It is almost an acute angle, and if you look at it closely it looks very odd. I have a coupe with two Recaro boosters in the back. They fit no problem but I do not believe any regular car seat will both fit and allow for enough leg room without the front seats being moved WAY forward.

+1 on this staement. I had a cab and the angle of the backseat was more acute as you say. That was the only difference.

So far, I've only narrowed it down to a Carrera S, with a manual trans. As far as price goes, I'm trying to keep it between 50-70K. Would be great to have bluetooth, but I think I can only get that on 09+. Ideal situation would be an 09 S coupe, manual trans, less than 30K on the odo, blue tooth, color: blue, macadamia, or gray.

From what I was reading, Porsche makes a rear facing seat that you put in the passenger seat. It uses these bars that connect to the seat rails or floor somehow and it automatically disables the passenger airbag.
