Angry Bizzare electrical issues

My 2005 997 has been having strange electrical issues. It started with the passenger door window not going down 1/4" when the handle was pulled, then the passenger door would occasionally not lock when the vehicle was locked from the remote. Then the drivers door window would go down 1/4", but not go back up. Then it would not go up from the down position, but would instead go further down. Next the cruise control would turn off while driving. Now the service engine light is coming on. They seem to be in a random pattern that comes and goes.

Durametric is showing a long list of trouble codes. Some saying implausible signal. It is as if there is a master controller that has been slowly failing over 6 months and is now disrupting communications between all of the modules, thus the seemingly random but increasingly broad and frequent problems/codes.

Any ideas on where to begin looking for the problem?

Pete

I had some weird electrical issues a few years ago which were due to low power in the battery. The dealer corrected the issue by charging the battery and they also reset the computers in the car that control stuff by disconnecting the battery for a short time (30 minutes) they described the failures as a result in the brown out that the electrical system went through caused the computers to not shut down properly before getting powered up.

Go figure, windows failure cost me a few days without my car!

One of the main battery problem is caused by low water level in the battery. They are not sealed (unless you have an Optima) & should be checked a couple of months & topped off w/ distilled water if required.

Sounds like your battery may be on it's last leg. Strange gremlins appear when it starts limping from start to start.

I had similar window issues with a low battery. The dash finally lit up like a Christmas tree.
