What would you replace your current 997 with?
Since the polls have been moved to another forum, I just wanted to provide a link to the one poll which may be of broadest interest to 997 drivers:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...t-replace.html
If I understand the current forum arrangement correctly, discussion of this topic can take place in this thread, but voting in the poll and discussion of the poll should take place in the poll thread.

The poll is fizzling, but the votes so far show that about 90% of people would get another 911. The majority of those would get another 997, but many would get a 991, which shows good faith that Porsche won't mess up the 911 (the 991 looks good on paper to me too).
Surprisingly, no one said they'd get a Boxster, Cayman, or Panamera. I personally think the Boxster and Cayman are great, but I need the back seat of the 911.

That's gives me an idea for a new thread. Stay tuned ...

Before I got my 911, my first choice was an Aston Martin. I just love the way that looks but I chose the 911 for it's sporty feel and reliability. Like many had said, it's an everyday supercar. Now if money is no issue. I wouldn't mind the Carrera GT parking in my garage.
To my eye, the Maserati GranTurismo is maybe the best looking car out there, but I hear that its performance doesn't match the 911, plus the convertible costs a good bit more than the 911S cab.
Most certainly another 911. The Italian cars are beautiful and awe inspiring in person, but the maintenance required is unacceptable to me. Also the understated good looks of a 911 suit me perfectly as opposed to the overtly flashy Italians. I'm just a low key kind of guy.

But I've come to realize that no sedan (including the Panamera) can really compete with a 911 because of the greater weight, higher CG, and (sometimes) narrower track. As with the E63, C63, M3, etc., you can engineer the heck out of a sedan, but the laws of physics still favor a pure sports car like the 997 in the end.
If I drive my C63 right after driving the 911, the height almost feels like an SUV!
