If you won a contest and were given keys to a 997S and AMV8 and could only select one I do not believe too many would take the 997S. WHY?

Let me count the reasons.

1. Styling. The 997 looks like every Porsche ever produced and the 997 looks years older than its age. The AMV8 by just about every sport car enthusiast is one of the most beautiful vehicles on the planet.

2. Exclusivity. Yes I know who cars if my car looks like a zillion other Porsches and Porsche produces 25,000 of them per year. The AMV8 will be bought by only 3000 lucky customers.

3. Resale value. The 997S once driven out of the showroom will depreciate at least 10% and continue to do so. The AMV8 will initially appreciate because of buyer demand and limited availability.

4. Interior. The AMV8 has probably one of the more elegant rich looking interior appointment. The Porsche...well enough said.

5. Exhaust/sensory experience. The AMV8 by all accounts has the same exhaust of its siblings and if true then it is as good as a Ferrari sound. The Porsche....well enough said.

6. Performance. Based on initial observations the two cars will be very close in performance. The difference will be in driver skills.

7. The 997S will become a footnote in performance when the 997TT is introduced. Sadly, the 997S will not have enough redeeming qualities to save it from accelerated depreciation when the TT is introduced. The AMV8 has all the above which will make much more desireable.

8. Porsche these days just does not have the impact, brand wise it once did. It is very common sport car and the public is viewing it as being humdrum. The AMV8 is considered one of the luxury brands coveted by many but only had by a few.

In short no contest. Most knowledgeable people would opt for the AMV8.

I drove a DB9 for a whole day and, although it was a nice, comfortable, great looking, fast gt, I would not take it over a 996 TT. The V8 will have the same great styling as the DB9 (Yes, it will be shorter and the back is completely different). Dollar for dollar, I would take the 997S anyday over the AMV8. I have never driven one but I am sure that it would not impress me any more than the DB9 did.

DB9 is not a TT competitor. You're looking in the wrong place. DB9 is more of a Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari 612, and CL65 competitor. Suspension tuning is completely different. The AMV8 does not feel like the DB9 at all. The Suspension is much stiffer, the steering is much sharper, and the car is noisier (meaning engine/exhaust noise) than the DB9.

I chose the AM should have it by January. Check out this new video for the Venture between Aston and Jaeger-LeCoultre!
The AMV8 is going to be SICK!
