TPC Turbo Carrera at HPDE w/Videos!

PCA HPDE at Roebling Road. The wife and I were playing double duty with the car (me-Instructor, her-Blue student). Hot event with a slick track but was a fun event overall. The car performed flawless and was eating up cars all day long. I had a bunch of fun with a couple of 997 GT3s & vintage race cars as you will see in the in-car footage and finished up lapping behind a track prepped 996 GT3 on Hoosiers for a few laps. Read the description as there were a few events on that session ! I marked their location times as well.

I also included a few drive-bys on the front straight and turn 9 so you can get a taste of the exhaust and wastegate blowoff.

Enjoy:
Front straight (140mph then letting out):

Turn 9 (~95mph):

In-car session (ignore the audio on the in-car. Wind noise)

Looks like fun Doc! One question, and I know there are some out there who may be wondering.....you are able to adjust the boost from your drivers seat.So was this at 4.5 PSI the whole time or do you crank it up on the straight aways? Because you sure did pull hard on them !

Cheers,

Stacy

Hey Doc, what brand of tires are you using on the track and what is your opinion of them?

LOL, yes with the optional boost controller you can have 2 boost levels programmed in. I was running 5psi the entire event. For added protection I do use a can of high quality octane booster per tank. It is not required with the tuning but it does offer added insurance for knock prevention.

The first day I ran MPSCs (245/305-19) but they were on the "outs" as they got greasy quick and I was all over. Day 2 I put on my Toyo R888s (235/295-19). I was a solid 2 secs/lap quicker with the tire swap. I do lather them up with Track Claw between events to keep the rubber in good shape.

The Toyo R888s have a bad rap in the Porsche world but I found that once you get a day or 2 on them they rubber squirm is gone and they perform better. They can take a beating also as the wife and I double team the car at every event. We have a total of 9 track days on them and they still have plenty of life, especially the fronts.

The 214s don't come in the sizes I need. If they did I would try them for sure.

Nice!

Nice Doc! I'm glad it worked out for you - my TPC install didn't go quite so well. A year and a half later and I'm still without a trackable car. 5 minutes into your run behind the GT-3 I'd be in limp mode!

That session I went out in the Black group (junior/newer instructor). I'm in the Red (senior/mentor instructor) and not becasue of age . . . I've instructed for 13 years.

I share the car with my wife so if the red and blue groups are back to back it gives the car no cool down so I was swapping black and red depending on when the wife's group went out so the car would have 20 mins rest between sessions. I'm kind on our equipment

The older Porsches have different lines since they are not as forgiving as the 996/997 series cars with the shorted wheelbases, ect. Turn 5 has about 1 gagillion different lines as well .
