Rennsport compared to Pebble Beach wknd

I was contemplating going to this event, and have never been before. I may drive up just for the day or the weekend. If others have been, can you comment specifically on how bad the traffic is, what are the events not to be missed, is it worth it to park in the corral, etc?Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Jim

Not to thread-hijack, but what event are you referring to and where/when is it?

This is the first time Rennsport has been held on the west coast, so NObody has first hand experience to answer your questions. My only thought is that you might call the Monterey Chamber of Commerce and see if they have a central reservations agency, to get a feel of how full the town is going to be. My guess is that the town will be crowded but probably much less so than on the Concours/Historics weekend in August.

The area is pretty well sold out, and the folks at the track think it will be one of their largest crowds ever.

My wife an I attended the first Rennsport Reunion at Lime Rock. It was terrific. So many great cars and great people. I think you could do Pebble Beach any year but this Porsche event is special. I'd recommend Rennsport...

Don't worry about traffic, this will be a must see event. I've been to Pebble and the only time I experienced gridlock was rush hour in Carmel which is completely avoidable depending where you stay. And the traffic is nothing like the daily grind that I endure heading to the studio every day. Last time I went to Pebble I stayed in Marina which lead to a drama-free drive to the track.

And if you do get stuck in traffic, it will be a traffic jam like you've never seen...

tickets were still on sale a few days ago - but Laguna Seca is a pretty big place, so it could be pretty crowded - although even at the Historics or ALMS its never too bad. Traffic going and out can get slow, but if you live and drive in LA, it is really not bad at all. Pebble can be a nightmare, but that's because the road to the golf resort is real narrow and parking sucks
