Birthday Gift to Myself
Birthday Gift to Myself
Here are pictures of my "new" '08 C2S. This was a birthday gift to myself this year.
My last sports car was a C5 Corvette Hardtop, which I throughly enjoyed. After my first child was born, the car was relegated to the garage, so it made no sense to keep. Even after my second child was born, I didn't think it would be years before I would be back at the helm of a road rocket.
I wanted a sports car with reasonable power and exceptional handling. Having been spoiled by Lexus and Mercedes in the intervening years, I was also looking for interior refinement and precision engineering. In other words, I wanted a Porsche.
At first, I seriously considered a 2011 Cayman S. A manual transmission midnight blue or black car with beige interior was a must. The 19" Sport Design Wheels were my favorite.
While searching for the Cayman, I accidentally came across this 2008 Carrera "S" with exactly the options I wanted, plus a few others. The car was maintained impeccably, with low miles.
I had always planned to eventually "upgrade" to a 911. Additionally, I considered that four seats would be a great way to spend some quality time with the family, while giving me an excuse enjoy the car a bit more often.
I found this car on a Friday. After a train trip and a cab ride, I drove my new 911 home on Saturday. This was a quick decision I am so happy I made! ...And a great Birthday Gift to myself!!

Congrats. Our 911 has become the family car with our two 5 year old twin girls.
My one daughter likes it when I press the sport button and gas it in second gear. She just starts giggling... my other daughter, unfortunately, does not. She just likes the windows down, the sun roof open and the music loud. My wife just likes the heated seats :-)
