my experience so far at about 300 miles. The tires are very well planted in the rain. I moved to 18 inch rims for these tires so the sidewall is taller and therefore gives a softer ride and more body roll on turn in.

In Rain, these tires are great.

It's been down into the 30s in the DC area in the AM and these tires have plenty of grip. (This is really what I needed in a winter season tire since I won't be driving in the snow)

They are little noisy on white concrete surfaces due to the tread block pattern, I'd guess, but on tarmac or black pavement the are very quiet.

So far I'm pleased.

If anything, these will make your more expensive summer tires last longer so from that standpoint, they are a good purchase.

I only have a few hundred miles on them, but so far so good. Winter here is typically 42F and wet.

As an added bonus to the traction I have also noticed that my exhaust is louder now

I don't have experience with this particular model; but we had the Continental Premier Contacts on my wife's sedan. IME, they were the worst tires I have ever bought in my life (and I've bought many tires over the years), and they only lasted half the life they were supposed to. This was with proper rotation, inflation & alignment. Just abysmal performance. They were also cheap-sounding from the get-go. Sounded like you were riding on four air tanks, and the tires became over time- 'boisterous' is not an inaccurate description. 24,000 miles of sensible city & fwy driving later, and they were done. The Bridgestones I replaced them with were an exponentially better tire in all ways, for not much more $ than I spent on the Contis, and I had high-hopes for the Continentals.

Hope your experience with Continental is far better than mine was.

I've had a set of them on my 09 Mercedes C350 (RWD) which I used for a winter set up (that one is gone, now have a E350 4matic), and my brother who has the Audi S4 Cab has them as well.

They are light, they are very smooth, they handle nicely and compared to the Summer tires, they are on the softer side but overall for a tire for the off season, they are great ... they got me through the snow comfortably, the price is great ... heck they even look nice. If you look around the forums for people with high performance cars they get a very good rating ... I think Conti has a real winner with these tires !!!

Keep in mind this is for cold weather driving when our Summer tires are hard as rocks so overall the compromise is good which is what you tend to look for when the temps drop.

1000 Mile Update

Finished 1000 mile already on the new tires already. here is the update.

Dry - Excellent
Wet - Excellent (very very well handled in rainy day in the corners in my favorite route - lots and lots of twists ans turns with forest/scenic drive)
Snow- Good, Not as good as real snow tires, but very much capable. Driven in recent day when we have got sleet/snow few days back. it handled very very nicely. in fact it did better than my GL 4Matic.

Other points - SOOO Quiet ride than my earlier tires (Yokohoma Advan sport)
Mileage - No difference

You should look at Discount Tire for your next tire purchase. They will price match Tire Rack. I am a firm believer in customer service and Tire Rack has lost a customer in me. They told me when I bought my SuperSports that no one could beat their price and no one would offer Road Hazard on a tire that expensive. Two months later, I get a nail in the side wall and Tire Rack says there is nothing they can do for me. I talked to Michelin and they told me to take the tire to Discount Tire to get inspected and they would cover the price of a replacement tire and Discount Tire also allowed me to purchase Road Hazard on all 4 tires even though they were purchased through Tire Rack.

Luckyp10- that's a great report & great advice. FWIW, I've had stellar service with our local Discount Tire shop.

Any updated reviews on these Conti DWS ?
How are their grip in 0 degree F (-15 degree C) dry weather ?

Like others I am just afraid I won't be able to resist driving my car on a cold but dry and sunny winter day so I want a tire that will give me good enough grip for me to enjoy the car a little...

Trying to decide between the Conti DWS or the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS....would love to hear your experience with either..

I had good experience with the Dunlop Winter 3D (on my other car) but as I won't be driving the C2S in wet or snow, I am not sure I'll need the real Winter tire if either the Potenza AS or the Conti DWS can handle 0 degree F temperture...

.

i am going to complete 1 year by next month, and have 23K on them in 11 months .

So far no issues, super all around season tires.

This is my DD. so drove my car all around the winter here in NJ. i don't remember how low the temps gone down to in NJ last winter.. Best all-season IMHO.

+1 on great tires(DWS). They are not "performance" tires by any means. You can overdirve them and the ride is softer than other tires, but for low temp grip, and rain, these are GREAT tires for the price. I use these in the winter months and Hankooks on another set of wheels in the warmer months. I'm in Maryland.
