Guys,

planning to put new shoes for my ride. Since i use the car as daily driver, i decided to put all-season tires, need your expert advice and your opinion on below Continental Extreme Contact in tirerack. set coming for $748.

Did anyone put those on, any ride, handling, NVH issues?

 

I used the Conti DWS last year (live on Long Island) with no issues.

 

Any feedback on traction on snowy conditions, i live in NJ.

 

I had no issues. I didn't drive the car during snow storms or over unplowed streets. However, the car does track well in the snow once the streets are paved, much better than my two previous BMWs.

 

me neither, i don't drive on un plowed streets. looking for the good traction in snow. based on your words these are good tires.

tirerack says comes with road hazard free, they are in good price now.

 

I just got a set of the DWS tires and put onto 18 inch wheels for my "Winter" setup. I won't drive in snow, but cold rain and occasionally being stuck out in nasty weather were my concerns. I'll review once I get a few miles on them and can give a good feeling of how the perform.

 

They advertised as All-season in tire rack. Do you think they are winter tires?

 

I have them on my Mercedes 4matic and they are great for rain and snow. I realy dont push the car that much but they seem to do fairly well on the local exit and entrance ramps.

 

Just had a set of19's put on my targa 4. I don't plan on using them in snow, just cold weather. So far I don't notice much difference from my cont summer tires. Put about 300 miles on them.

 

How many miles did you have on your old tires, and what were they? Others on this forum have mentioned that all tires get noisier as they get older. I would have expected the new tires to be quieter than the old ones you replaced.

I have a set of summer only tires on 19 inch rims. I picked up a set of 18 inch wheels to use with the DWS tires during the winter season here in the mid-atlantic. I was not looking for pure winter tires as we get really cold, rain, then warm days.

I won't be driving in the snow if I can help it. I have an all wheel drive beater for those duties. I just wanted some tires that can handle the cold and rain.

 

Just my opinion, but all season tires suck in the winter and the summer.
If you're going to drive the car in the winter, i'd look at a set of dedicated winters and stick to high performance summer tires for the summer.
It's a 911, not a Camry. Just my $0.02.

 

thanks to all the suggestions guys. i will stick the 18" for winter and put the high perf summer tires in my new 19" set.

 

I have them on my mercedes 4matic and they are good all around tires, also they lasted for 40k miles.

 

I bought Conti DWS for my bimmer and I love it. As soon as my Michelin (OEM) is low I will probably going to buy DWS for my 911S. With 295 in the rear for 540 A A rating for $219, it's a bargain. Plus I doubt that Pilot sport is that much better. (IMHO) Michelin is completely over rated. I don't track my car or I plan to. If grip means everything, try Vredstein Sessenta....now that's a good tire.
