Service bulletin frustration

Hi guys. Would love to get some opinions from P drivers more more tech savvy than I. Evidently there is a service bulletin for my car (05 C2S) to re-program when the engine fan goes on. I have never had any problems with mine overheating-hot drives through the mtns, summer mths etc. Finally I can take two weekdays off of work to drive 80 miles to my auth dlr. The job is supposed to take 30 minutes while I wait. I get there and an hr later they tell me my car is 'one of a few requiring a fuse pack' which they don't have and needs to be ordered. My question is, does this really have to be done? The service writer said I would probably notice no difference in driving. I am getting more and more hesitant as I get older about 'prophylactic' repairs on cars that aren't broke. I did get a complimentary wash right before our first storm of the season rolls in, oh and I took some pictures of the 991's which I'll try to post on the other site. Thanks.
Jim

I had that 'update' years ago on my 05 997S. I have a fairly early build 997 (#337) so it might have needed the 'fuse pack' but since they simply reported doing the Service Bulletin on the work order I really don't know.

ps. I always refuse the so called 'complimentry' wash. The washers are the lowest guys on the 'food chain' at any dealership and typically do more harm then good.

Based on what I read in the Workshop Campaigns, the "Blower Motor Fuse" campaign only affected the 2005 C2 and C2S (coupes and cabs).

Likewise, the "Engine Compartment Blower" campaign affected the 2006-2007 C2/C2S/C4/C4S/Turbo/GT3/GT3 RS. It lists a range of VINs for the affected vehicles. Late 2007 cars might not have been affected.

Don't mean to thread jack but after nicking the powder coating on my V-308s I specfically instruct the dealer not to wash my car.

Great info. Thanks everyone. My VIN # ends in 486 so it falls right into this range of only a fuse delete. I wonder if there is some info the dlr gets not avail to the rest of us. I can't imagine why he would say I needed the fuse pack knowing how po'd I'd be about wasting a trip?!

I agree. Car was still dripping from the wash. Came home and felt so guilty that I re-wiped and waxed it!

+1

I smile and tell them to make sure they don't wash it but if you do you'll be detailing the car at your expense.....
