Frunk and hatch open on their own randomly
Frunk and hatch open on their own randomly
This a pretty weird thing my Frunk and hatchback unlatch on their own intermittently. Pretty random and concerning because I can walk out and the hatch or the Frunk can be open with the corresponding interior lights on. Also, when the Frunk or hatch are opened it unlocks the doors, which is a big risk. Anyone have an idea on what could cause this and what needs to be fixed?
Are you sure it's not from the key being in your pocket? I've noticed that it's easy to push the buttons just by bending over to pick something up or bumping into something with the keys in my pocket. Not a great key design for that reason.
Yeah, it might be that. Sometime I get in the car, keys in hand, start it and then after I put on my seat belt, I get the indicator the Frunk's open. Gotta take off the seat belt, get out of the car and shut the darn thing.
I know it sometimes goes off when I have the fob in my pants, but other times the fob is in a jacket pocket. I'll keep watching it.

I'd also guess the key here, though I haven't had that issue with the keys luckily. Now my old Audi key, that was horrible. I had to replace the battery frequently as just putting it near my pocket would cause the buttons to depress.
If you install the smartkey or smarttop (for cabs) the frunk button can be set to activate after 4 seconds.

Yep - I know that feeling... Get all buckled in, start it up, push "sport" then "pasm normal" then start backing out of the garage and... BEEP! "front lid open" MSG. Such a pain! Didn't know about the TSB - that would be nice to try.
Targa "hatch" right? There's a dealer fix for the delay timing on the trunk release on early model 997's...or search for the DIY fix on the key buttons that makes it less sensitive to inadvertent engagement.
The exact same thing happens to me on occasion.
Yes, but if you don't open a door, the doors will re-lock automatically (in about 30 seconds I think).
