too good to be true?

hello all! new to the board and first post... I have been looking for a 911 4s or 911 turbo in the low 50K range for a little bit and ran across this one... there is also a 05 911 turbo s on the same lot for 49K

anyone ever heard of this outfit? Pricing is attractive...

thoughts?>

Very good price. Get a CarFax before you see it in person and fall in love.

just called... this is a salvage outfit. all the cars have been totaled due to flood. The cars have been inspected and replaced appropriate modules and have been in business for 30 years.

The risks are obvious but as the sales guy said, when you would go to sell to upgrade or move on, then give the appropriate discounts on. They said that usually count on 20-22% off of what the "market" is selling.

Could either be a can of worms or a great deal. Does come with a 5000 mile warranty and they promise to buy the car at later date.

thoughts? I know the knee jerk reaction is to say move on but after you think about it, still the same move on or hmmm could work?

curious to hear...

(said they just got a 09 turbo s PDK in and will go on for 58k) crazy stuff!

There's something really wrong about that car... and I'm not talking about the salvage title. look and the gearshift. Also, the third pedal is missing.

Joel was kidding!

Be aware that it is difficult to register a car with a salvage title in some states (such as MA). I don't know about IN.

sorry, I forgot the code... <sarcasm>the third pedal is missing</sarcasm>
These cars can be truly enjoyed when they are manual transmission only. PDK is the second best.

No strike. sometimes I can't control myself. In a serious note, try a manual before committing to a tip

I agree with Joel. If you're going to go with a 911, manual transmission is the ONLY way to go. Never driven a PDK so I can't comment, but I've heard favorable reports. Also, resale value on automatics (tiptronics) is really low.
Salvage title??? I would be R U N N I N G away.....not worth it.

Your car is out there.....

It really depends on where the high water line is on the car. If the water made its way to the control modules I'd pass. I'd really want to see the car in person and spend a lot of time going through the electrics. They can clean them up but they most likely will still cause problems.

One other thought. It is currently cold out and getting colder. When june/July roll around that car may have a very distinct odor.

I looked at a 94 3.6 turbo once that had been in a flood. The guy selling it was the second owner and I truly believe he had no knowledge of the problem. When I looked under the seats I could see signs of light corrosion. I then pulled back the carpet under the pedals and I could see the high water line on the wood board. On closer examination of the modules under the seat I could see mud on the back sides of all the connectors. I passed and felt sorry for the guy owning the car. It was going to be a hard sell.

Question for those that have done a very detailed and complete PPI... wouldn't that PPI show what has been damaged or potential issues? Might cost a little more on the PPI but to be honest even if I bought a private clean 911 turbo I would pay for a complete PPI anyway.

I agree about the modules. The owner on the phone openly said the 911 non turbo had to have the modules replaced.

Still crazy am I?
