Cheap GPS Solution: iPhone 4 ProClip Mount
Cheap GPS Solution: iPhone 4 ProClip Mount
Here's an easy DIY for those of you (like me) without the GPS option in your 997. I purchased and installed a ProClip mount for my iPhone 4S with Garmin App. The actual mounting clip for the phone has a power outlet underneath. When you mount the phone, it will be charging.
I purchased the mount from Proclipusa.com. The material is "commercial" grade plastic and does not vibrate or rattle (even with a Fabspeed exhaust!). The only downside of the mount is the cost....about $120 for the mounting clip and arm. However, this is a way cheaper solution than adding the GPS unit!
Install time was about 15 minutes, mostly reading the instructions. Next steps 1) Install an iPod interface, 2) Hardwire the mount.

They make great mounts, and are somwhat modular in that you can buy the mount and upgrade the holder if you change device. Ive been using them in my M5 for a couple years now.

Interesting perspective, as the cost of the mount is 25% north of the basic GPS units you can buy these days and the app is not cheap either. I love the mount (in my VW) as I use the iPhone for music, but dedicated basic GPS' can be had these days for about $100 new.
