Navigation system in the 997

my friend has a 05 997 S

he got it from the "agent" over here, more like THE only certified dealer for Porsches

options include everything on the list, except perhaps the colored seat belts

HOWEVER,
he has the screen and all, but no navigation
mind you, when they told him about the car that is on order, they said it DID have navigation

so now he's going back and forth to the dealer, asking whether it is possible to "install" the navigation

here's the deal: the dealer is saying since the car left the factory without the navigation (but with the screen), the navigation system CAN NOT be installed..

I find that rather hard to believe

has anyone got any insight? is IT doable?

TIA

The Nav can be installed afterward, it's availiable at most dealers, try Suncoast. All 997's come with the screen.

that dealer is working you guys.

Right. All 997s have the screen, which is used for radio, CD, NAV, on-board computer, etc.

But, nav is an option , even on the S. Al least in the US.

It can be ordered installed from the factory. Or it can be put in afterwards by the dealer. There's an access door under the hood where the navigation box mounts.

The unit installs next to the 6 changer CD, open the black lid in the middle of the trunk and youll' see what I mean.
