Road Hazard Protection for Rears

I've had these for about 2 months! $500 down the drain. Everyone says that these are expensive for them to provide road hazard!!! I'm not a happy camper right now!

When the puncture is close to the sidedwall, it's outside the main belt area and no reputable tire shop will repair a tire w/a puncture in that area.

Correct. Just a couple of inches inward would be a whole different deal.

OP- did they sell you road hazard & refuse to honor it, or did they not make it available at purchase because of the risk/tire cost?

No Road hazard. They initially were going to sell it to me, but changed their mind before I purchased. I purchased them from Tire Rack. I haven't even broke 2000 miles yet. Oh well, life goes on!

I had a puncture in the exact same spot on the inside of the tire (driver's side rear) but luckily the tires were old and needed replacement. You can't patch it for lots of reasons I suppose but the one that I know of is that the flex of the tire and load will never allow the patch to fully cure. I ordered new rears and had them drop shipped to an installer; then persuaded a local garage to patch the tire so that I could drive the car and have the new tires mounted. The tire, with patch, held air for about 30 minutes before being too flat to drive on

Tcc1999, I had them plug it so that I could get home. Even with the nail though, the pressure wouldn't drop below 29 psi.

I filed a claim with Michelin today through Discount Tire and Michelin said they would cover the cost of placing the tire. On top of that, Discount Tire said that they PRICE MATCH Tire Rack and they offer Road Hazard on the tires as well. They allowed to buy Road Hazard for the tires that I already purchased through Tire Rack. Impressive!

Discount Tire is a great place to do business with. I don't waste my time going anywhere else.
