Drive a bunch of cars first.

I do think PDK first appeared in 2009.

I am a high Performance guy. I am also a luxury guy. I have a pretty wide spectrum when it comes to cars and can appreciate any car FOR what it was engineered to do, I suppose thats why I have always had several cars in the stable. One week I prefer chilling out in luxury and the next week my high performance needs kick in. One car can never satisfy me. Even 2 cars cant do it

I also desparately want to get back out on the track. My last event was in 2008 but driving My current track car wouldnt be safe because I no longer feel comfortable at driving a stick on the track. For the street its ok but things happen much too fast on a roadcousre and I wouldnt want to slow things down for others or even be the slightest risk due to my issues with my left foot

The GTR looks to be a great performing car. Although I have never driven one, the high performance characteristics look very similar to a 911 Turbo (AWD, 6 Cyl Twin turbo, Dual Clutch tranny similar to a PDK perhaps, etc) It may be the best bang for the buck. But it doesnt interest me.

OP. Check out a PDK Cayman R if you want to track and keep it simple. It's a good choice - turbos are too soft on the track and are harder to handle in turns (unless you modify them). Gt3's are all manual transmission - not good for your situation. Another good choice is the Carerra GTS PDK for the track if you need more umph.

My $0.02.

well i definitely agree with you on Turbos in the turns. I own one and its rwd and found myself in trouble before (In 05 I hit a tire wall and that taught me first lesson). So I have learned to be carefull. A good R Compound Tire has really helped me out in that regard but still, you have to respect the turbo before tracking out.

Tracking for me eventually became more about recreation and being able to open up while at the same time, going home without the need of a paint job at the end of the day. It got to the point where I was no longer even timing my laps. Again, strictly recreation and respecting laws of physics. You could still have lots of fun though and thats what its all about. Meeting others and going for rides in other cars to me is part of the fun also.

In the end, A turbo car is still a must for me.
