System Fault code

Has anyone had the "systems fault" code come on? If so what was the reason and appox cost to fix. I changed my glove box lock and when I drove the car after install (About 10 min into the drive) the light came on.
Thanks for any help!

Not that this is of any help BUT the only time I ever got this code was when I polished my car. There is a grounding problem with the front control module and static electricity shorts it out(happened three times to me),LOL!

So if,by chance, you decided to wipe/dust your car off after you installed the glove box lock......could be it!

The module was right around $200 and it is located under the front trunk on the passenger side!

When drying the car DO NOT rub the head-lights......And I am not joking! The dealer will charge you $500 to replace the module or at least mine did the first time. The module alone cost me $125 but they since have gone up in price....expect to pay around $200 for that same module.............BTW...they will look at you like you are nuts when you tell them what I just told you,LOL!My dealer had NO idea that this could happen.

When detailing the car,I always pulled the headlights out first. They told me there was an updated module BUT it happened again......three times for me,LOL!

Here is the post where the module is....

Well, I took the car into the dealer this am and will let ya know what happens. All I did was wash and dry the car! This seems crazy to me that washing and drying can cause enough static electricity to fry that module.
Did u have to clear the code after you replaced it yourself? Maybe I just need to lightly dry the headlights from now on. I've had the car detailed several times without this happening. (06 997 4S) Very frustrating. I told the dealer what you said and he did look at me and rolled his eyes but didn't have any other explanation. We'll see what he says when I get it later today.
Thanks for the helping me out with the reply Stacy. I searched system faults and it didn't come up. Did I do it wrong? Thanks again!

Hey Rob,

Like I said ..... the dealer will look at you like you are NUTS....but it happened to me THREE times,LOL! YES it is crazy that this can happen!

Yes the code will need to be cleared, which is why the Durametric diagnostic software IS a great investment. It paid for itself JUST on this one job by doing the work myself!

Just like you said Stacy.....its the front module. $500! Unreal that it costs that much. On my way down to get the car now.
Is it pretty easy to put one in yourself? Do you need to disconnect the battery and use a maintainer while you do it? What did the Durametric cost?
Thanks again for all the help!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

AWESOME.....glad I could help BUT this is a fix that anyone could do....even with limited tools!
It is a simple job.......

I put up a link(post #4) in this thread so that you can see where the module is.......

Honestly a 30 minute job and yes I disconnected the battery and didn't worry about a battery maintainer when doing it.
Durametric,if memory serves me correctly.....is around $249 and WORTH every penny!
You would have paid for it with this one repair....

Cheers,

Stacy
