Only in Chicago...

Found my '07 C4S - check!
Sold the other car and committed to using the p-car as my DD - check!
Bought the winter wheels and tires - check!
WeatherTech mats installed - check!
Replaced ignition coils that finally went out - check!
Complete loss of my mind for actually wanting it to snow today - check!

My husband thinks I'm completely insane.

Brave gizmogirl! Always left the p-car parked in winter in Chicago and drove the Disco during snow.

Fearless! My car will never be a garage queen. Previous owner wasn't that caring and the paint has already taken the toll. Dr. ColorChip is my new friend. I just had a very pitted and chipped windshield replaced (-that- was nerve wracking) and we're ready to face the elements. I get to drive to Georgia this weekend and can't wait to get it out on some open stretches.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out the car washing situation. I think I'm going to resign myself to going to a carwash about once a week and then a really good paint reconditioning session in the Spring.

These cars are meant to be driven. I sold my 996 with 157,000 miles and it looked/performed better than new. Got a 997 and will proceed to do the same. Life is too short to be driving a boring car everyday. I see garage's queens and I think: "I don't going to have sex with my hot wife in order to save her for the next guy"

So, you've considered the possibility that he might be right??????
Hmmmmm.
Has 911 as daily driver.....Check.
Reasonably vigilant maintaining said 911.....Check.
Enjoys driving said 911 long distances.....Check.
At least open to the possibility of husband occasionally being right.....Check.

Damn.
So you're just straight-up gunning for the title of 'Perfect Wife' then?

Except for that business of wanting the snow, I'd say you had it locked in.

Driving in the Chicago 'burbs on a clear dry day is hellish enough. Add snow and there might as well be chimps behind the wheel of every vehicle. Narcoleptic chimps.
Seriously, stay safe and enjoy the car.

Alas, he is right more than I care to admit. AND he did let me sell his BMW so that I could purchase the 997.

The 'burbs that I live in don't have quite the traffic issues. Luckily I have a nice back route without too much congestion. It's amazing how much fun you can have in 2nd and 3rd gear!

You go girl. Had mine out in what little snow we had today in Indy. Streets were mainly wet but temp was 24 degs so I figure it was a reasonable test of the tires. Have Sotozero II's on 19" stock Lobster Claws and they handle like it was dry and sunny. Very pleased with them. As for the salt, I power washed the car when I got it home. Was feeling a little guilt about driving on the freshly salted streets. Neighbors must think I'm daft. But, as they say, life isn't a dress rehearsal so you better have all the fun you can while you can and driving a C4S in the snow is about as much legal fun as you can have.

Have a buddy who recently moved from Milwaukee to NC. While he was in Wisconsin, he used his black C4S Cab as his daily driver. He drove it year 'round. He did have winter wheels & tires, but the snow didn't slow him down one bit.

Unfortunately, he recently traded his P-car in on a new MB CLS63 AMG sedan. It's a hot rod, but it's not a Porsche.

... and... lest we not forget, the cars are made in Germany, where it has been known to snow on occasion.. ahem..

You go, girl!..

The drive was a blast after I got over my "you're driving a large checkbook" fear. Was fun watching the pick-up trucks struggle through slushy intersection while the Porsche had no issues accelerating from a stop. Damon set me up with the 18" Pirelli Winter 240's. Love them!

The only issue I had was having to shovel the d@#^ driveway myself!
